frustration

So I thought putting together a final project multimedia piece wouldn’t be that overly difficult, however, that turned out to be far from true. After getting a fairly good start on it on one of the school computers, it froze leading me to have to restart the computer. Then when i tried to restart the computer and try again it would not recognize my external harddrive. Then my thoughts were to try a different computer and see if that works. That was a failed attempt. so then i gave up for a while. I tried later that night on my own computer which is a pc. i was able to almost complete the project with the material i had and was very proud of myself. The next day i tried to add photos on top of the video footage i had while keeping the audio from the video in the background. this was not as easy as it seems. I ended up having to completely scratch that project and start over again on a school computer using final cut express. This was my last try to get this project to work. for now it has been working well and the computer has been recognizing my external harddrive. I hope that nothing goes wrong tomorrow and that my project comes together finally. I will let you know how it turns out and maybe i will post it up here sometime.

A horse is the projection of peoples’ dreams about themselves - strong, powerful, beautiful - and it has the capability of giving us escape from our mundane existence. ~Pam Brown

Surfing

A thousand horse and none to ride! -
With flowing tail, and flying mane,
Wide nostrils never stretched by pain,
Mouths bloodless to the bit or rein,
And feet that iron never shod,
And flanks unscarred by spur or rod,
A thousand horse, the wild, the free,
Like waves that follow o’er the sea,
Came thickly thundering on,…

baltimore

today my parents and i went to baltimore for the day. I had to take pictures of a place i don’t belong and that is definitely one of them. i am used to living in the country with a pretty good distance between places totally not like a city. even thought i have been to baltimore many times i have really only stayed in the inner harbor region. today i was able to go up to the top of the world trade center building right in the middle of the inner harbor. I took a lot of pictures of the city including a panorama and a close-ups of the submarine and pirate ship that call the harbor their home. even though i spent the day with my parents it was a lot of fun. at the end of the night we got a night dinner at p.f. chang’s that was delicious. i really enjoyed taking pictures of the city at night. the sky was super blue and all the lights just made a nice orange contrast to the sky.

World Equestrian Games

over the course of last year and this year i planned and cordinated everything with going to see the world equestrian games this fall. this past weekend we finally went to go see the games. this is the first time all of us had gotten a chance to see the games because it was the first time they ever came to the u.s. we all had a great time! I was especially excited for the cross country portion of the weekend because we got ot be right next to the jumps. at one point i got so close that i was basically underneath the jump. it was amazing. i think i took some of my best pictures yet during the cross country course. we also got to see a record breaking dressage ride by morlands tortallis. it was facinating to watch. and then on the last day we got to do some shopping and watch most of the final show jumping phase of three day eventing. it was probably the best weekend i had this year. i would do almost anything to go in four years again to france.

Terrible Day

So a couple days ago I was trying to shoot pictures of places where I feel uncomfortable or out of place and it basically ended in a disaster. First of all I live on Park Ave. and the place I wanted to shoot at was all the way down to the end of West College Ave. The house that I wanted to shoot is where a bunch of hippie/activists live at. I am neither of the two and so it was a perfect fit for where I don’t belong. I get to the house and take out my camera to find out that I don’t have a SD card in it. This completely surprises me cause I almost always keep a card in the camera. So I go all the way back to my apartment and pick up a card. Then I go back down to the house and take a couple pictures. The pictures were alright but nothing special. I really wanted to have some people in them but absolutely no one was around. So then I decide to go downtown where maybe I can find more people.

This is a mid-afternoon weekend and where I thought there would be people is yet again empty of life. My plan for going downtown was to take pictures that look like the city because I don’t get along very well with any city, being a country person. The pictures I took again were okay but nothing special and definitely didn’t look like a city. At this point I am getting fed up and decide to just go back to a computer lab and edit the pictures I took (seeing as my computer a week before died and my new one still hasn’t arrived). So I get to the lab, log in and the realize I don’t have a SD card reader with me. So then I go back to my apartment where my friend tells me that he will just download Photoshop for me to use. Well an hour later he still hasn’t finished downloading it because his computer is having problems so now I am totally frustrated with this.

Eventually, he finally downloads the program and I am able to edit the pictures but I am so fed up with what I took and all the issues of the day that I just want to get done with these pictures. I do some simple editing and let them be.

Now looking back at it I really want to re-edit them and fix them up to be nice pictures. All in all it was a terrible day that I never want to repeat and hopefully won’t have to.
